Connected systems · Clear responsibilities

Connect your systems
around the information that matters

Help your applications work together. Axisware plans API development and integration around the information your organisation needs to share and the processes that depend on it.

01 Connect existing systems

Pass agreed information between applications.

02 Build an API

Create a clear interface for future connections.

03 Replace repeated handling

Reduce repeated re-keying between systems.

What we can help you build

Software with a clear purpose

Connect existing systems

Assess available interfaces and define which records or events need to move between applications.

Build an API

Create a defined way for approved applications to request information or perform agreed actions in your software.

Replace repeated handling

Look for practical opportunities to reduce repeated entry, manual exports and disconnected hand-offs.

Is this right for your organisation?

What an API means for your business

An application programming interface (API) is a defined way for one piece of software to communicate with another. An integration uses that connection to support a real task, such as passing an approved record to another application. The useful question is what information needs to move, when it should move and which system is responsible for it.

Useful starting points

  • Re-entering the same information in several systems
  • Passing files between applications by hand
  • Keeping customer and operational records connected
  • Linking a portal to an internal business application

We begin with the documentation and access available for each system. We then agree the information mapping, permissions, update direction and behaviour when a connection fails. Some platforms restrict access or charge for it; those dependencies need to be understood before a delivery commitment.

In practice

An approved record passed to the next system

As an illustrative design, an approved record could be checked and sent to another system, with the result recorded for staff to review. If the receiving system is unavailable, the process needs a clear recovery path. Repeated requests also need to be handled carefully so they do not create duplicate work.

Working with Axisware

Understand the process. Design the right software.

We start with the people who will use the system, the tasks they carry out and the information they rely on. That gives us a practical basis for agreeing scope and priorities.

We then work through the screen design, connections and delivery stages. Testing should reflect real tasks and exceptions, with deployment and ongoing support considered from the start.

Our development strategy explains how we plan a project. You can also explore our support services.

Questions before you begin

Frequently asked questions

Not always. We review each system’s supported interfaces, permissions and restrictions before confirming what is feasible. An alternative approach may be needed where an API is unavailable.

We can scope a defined interface for your application, including the information or actions it exposes, who may use it and how it will be maintained.

Failure handling forms part of the design. Depending on the process, this may include recording the problem, notifying someone and retrying safely.

The right timing depends on the business task and the systems involved. We agree whether information should move following an event, at intervals or after a person’s approval.

Part of a connected system

The right solution may combine a web interface, Windows application, workflow and API connections. We can help work through that choice with you.
